It has been a challenging year for crop establishment, but nothing can be as bad as the start, middle and end of 2011. We have had a few days of record-high temperatures, but there have been breaks in between. As with most of our rain, it is very hit-and-miss across the countryside, so those under the cloud are in much better shape than those missed by the cloud. We have certainly seen our share of wind too, but waiting to spray between windy days has become a common practice. Most peanut fields have experienced hot, dry and windy conditions in the early part of the 2012 growing season.
