Commentary: Green Fence and a focus on quality raw materials

This commentary was written in response to our article, Is Green Fence really affecting the export market? (The Paper Stock Report, June 25,2013) I would say the Green Fence has had exactly the effect the Chinese wanted to see. You are seeing the garbage Old Newspaper (ONP)that single streams have been sending over to China starting to be cleaned up. The big boys have cooked the golden goose with their poor operating practices and dumping ONP with 25- to 30-percent non-fiber. Really, it was less than mixed paper but being sold as ONP, which the Chinese were taking and using. But now it has a lot of plastic bags with other junk in them.
