The opportunity to use HSLA, UHSLA, and stainless steels and aluminum for hydroformed tubular parts offers benefits for some products. These materials need to offer enough advantage in structural performance, weight reduction, or some other aspect to overcome their higher cost-per-unit weight. Tube hydroforming can provide additional benefits to help facilitate their use, especially in vehicle structures.As hydroforming technology progresses, part design complexity will tend to increase. Resolving these challenges requires a more comprehensive approach-one that encompasses process conditions, design parameters, and material selection. Considering these aspects together can maximize benefits of the hydroforming process.
