"A computer disk about the size of a DVD that can hold 60 times more data is set to go on sale in 2006," according to a news item ("Holographic-memory discs may put DVDs to shame") posted at www.newscientist.com. The disk holds 300 gigabytes of data and can be used to read or write data 10 times faster than a normal DVD, according to the article. It brings back memories of floppy disks. Remember when 3.5-in. floppy disks, with their whopping 1.44 megabytes of storage capacity, swept aside the 5 1/4-in. disks that had half of that capacity?
