摘要

The steps of design are mostly based on a request for a refractory lining for a steel vessel of some sort. The refractory designer will be asked to select the appropriate materials to conform to the conditions inside the unit with some restrictions on the thickness and required outside temperatures. In most cases this excercise would be quite simple, because there would be some past experience of linings and materials with a proven track record. However, there are the few exceptions to this where it may look easy but is, in fact, much more complicated. An example of this is a unit operating at relatively cold conditions such as 600°C and under pressures of 30bar.
