Hello to all readers of the IRE journal. My name is Mick Greenfield and at our 53rd AGM in May, it was my honor to take over the presidency of The Electric Steelmakers Guild. First of all I would like to congratulate the outgoing president, Phil Cartlidge, on his successful stewardship of the guild over the past twelve months and also give recognition for the work he has done regenerating the Steelmakers Guild website. During his tenure, as everyone is painfully aware, we experienced a swing from some of the best times we have experienced in the UK steel industry, to perhaps what are now arguably the worst, but don't worry Phil, nobody is holding you to blame.
