President's Column

My year of office ended with our IRE Conference and AGM on the 9th September and to say that the year has flown past would be an understatement. The conference was again a huge success, despite the sounding of the fire bell during the last paper. Throughout the day I received numerous comment's about how good the papers were and the professionalism of the presenters, and I would like to say a big thank you to all the authors and presenters for giving up their time to attend and-support our conference. I would-also like to offer my thanks and congratulations to our new president, Mr Paul Bottomiey for his efforts in organising the event. While travelling during my year I have been lucky to meet many members of our Institute in Finland, India, South Africa and Australia, and there is certainly an enthusiasm for the Institute overseas. I wish Mike Clark continued success in his promotion of Internationalisation within the Institute and hope to be able to continue to help as I travel on business and look forward to meeting some of you again.
