THE WAY AHEAD

As the Institute approached the millennium there was some satisfaction at the way it had grown over the last forty years, but also concern that the standard of service which had been achieved to a growing membership should be maintained in the future. This was why the Institute set up a strategy committee under the chairmanship of Tex Palin to look at all aspects of the Institute's current and future operations. The committee reported early in 2001 and the General Council approved a number of recommendations, which were put to the membership at the AGM in Birmingham last October. The main recommendation endorsed was the formation of an executive sub committee of five senior members of Council to run the day-to-day Institute business and to report at intervals on the progress being made to the council.
