Celanese Moves Its Acetyls Downstream

Celanese has moved its acetyls business further downstream with an agreement to acquire Clariant's European emulsions and global emulsion powders business for SFr 213.5 million (US142 million). The takeover deal comes nearly two years after Celanese acquired Air Products' polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) operation as part of a strategy to shift into the higher-value acetyls sectors.
