Getting it right: Joanna Collins meets our award-winning dame

"I love my food," beams Dame Anna Hassan (pictured right), headteacher of Hackney's Millfields Community School, which won the Soil Association Food for Life School of the Year 2006 award last November. Dame Anna's love of food is infectious. On the day I visited Millfields, the children had a choice of chicken and vegetable curry or sweet potato korma with organic basmati rice. Both looked, smelled and tasted delicious. Children were helping themselves from baskets of vegetable sticks and fresh organic bread arranged on the tables.
