POCOS to build galvanizing and organic coating lines in Vietnam

Pohang Coated Steel (Pocos) disclosed its plan to build a galvanizing line and an organic coating line in Vietnam. The galvanizing line will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. Pocos will spend 105 million dollars for those lines to be built near to a cold rolling mill its affiliated firm POSCO plans to build at Phu My No. 2 Industrial Complex of Vung Tau Province, close to Hochiminh. POSCO's cold rolling mill will be completed by October 2009 with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons. Pocos plans to start construction in January 2008 and complete by end of August 2009. Pocos' Vietnam Works will add 300,000 tons/y capacity to its current 900,000 tons/y (600,000 tons galvanized sheets and 300,000 tons prepainted sheets).
