Capacity Utilization Rates of HR SSCs Drop in Pohang

Steel service centers (SSCs) of hot-rolled coils (HR) in the area of Pohang are wearing tearful faces due to a drop in the capacity utilization rates of their mills. Even though there are some differences among them, the capacity utilization rates of their mills plunged about 50 percent this year compared with last year. It was confirmed that most of them are operating their facilities for only 7-8 hours per day. POSCO has decreased its HR supply by about 30 percent in the distribution market this year compared with a year ago, resulting in such a drop in the capacity utilization rates of their mills.
