Business Performance by Top 3 Major Electric Furnace Steelworks Excellent in First Quarter

Major local electric furnace steelworks posted the average ratio of operating income to sales at the level of 7 percent in the first quarter of the year, indicating they have overcome an extremely worsened phase of the market conditions in a relatively good manner. A recent survey on the listed top three electric furnace steelworks in Korea, namely, Hyundai Steel, Dongkuk Steel and Korea Iron & Steel, showed that their average ratio of operating income to sales stood at 7.6 percent, the lowest level over the past three years.
