Korea's Overseas Plant Construction Order Receipts Expected to Top 22 Billion U.S. dollars This Year

Overseas plant construction orders clinched by Korean builders in the first eight months of the year reached 16.4 billion U.S. dollars, making it predictable that their year-end total would top 22 billion U.S. dollars, which is higher than their earlier estimation of 20 billion U.S. dollars. Such strong overseas plant construction order receipt performance in the January-August period that exceeded the year-earlier period's record of 15.8 billion U.S. dollars was attributed to the constructors' intensive diversification of their market to cover Europe and America, getting out of their traditional areas of the Middle East and Africa. If such a growth pace of overseas plant construction order receipts continues on the back of surging oil prices ands continuing growth of the world economy, their annual order receipts could surpass 30 billion U.S. dollars in 2010.
