Japan to Impose Retaliatory Tariff on U.S. Steel Products

The Japanese government is reportedly taking necessary final procedure to take effect of its retaliatory tariff on the imports of steel and bearing products from the U.S. with a schedule to begin its actual imposition of the tariff in September. According to a recent report by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the imposition of retaliatory tariff on the imports of American goods is to cope with the Byrd Amendment of U.S. Taking into consideration the expected effect on the resumption of American beef imports, the Japanese government appears to make its final conclusion soon on the imposition of its retaliatory tariff which is estimated to reach 8.5 billion yen (approximately 76.3 million U.S. dollars) at the maximum.
