China's Nonferrous Metal Production Surge 19.5 percent in January-September

Production of nonferrous metals in China is increasing at a fast pace this year, breaking the 10 million-ton line in the accumulated output from January through September. According to recent data from the China Nonferrous Metal Association, the combined aggregate production of ten major nonferrous metals in the first nine months of the year in China posted 10,192,734 tons, up 19.5 percent from 8,531,100 tons in the same period of 2003. Amid high growth in nonferrous metal industry on the back of the rapid economic growth in China, brisk operation of the newly installed production facilities are accelerating the output of nonferrous metals these days. Most items are posting double-digit growth, but highlighted rise in production is seen by aluminum and nickel in particular.
