A drop in the exchange rate of Korean won against U.S. dollar, which is pointed out as the largest factor in slowing down the exports of domestic goods, is foreseen to bring about not only a drop in exports, but also an expansion in imports and deterioration in exporters' profitability. As the means to cope with it, strengthening of foreign exchange risk control at small and mid-size enterprises was raised as a short-term measure, and upgrade of local industrial structure and sharpening of competitive edge in non-price competition in exports were suggested as long-term measures.
