Foreign Exchange Rate to Become Major Variable in Exports Next Year

Competitive won-dollar exchange rate is likely to be 1,266.5 won. The foreign exchange rate level of Korean won has a high possibility of becoming the largest variable for domestic enterprises to export their goods next year. According to a recent survey conducted jointly by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and the Korea International Trade Association on about 1,000 exporting firms across the country for about two months with the subject of the exporting industry status survey for 2004, the foreign exchange rate of the Korean won is expected to work as the heaviest burden on them.
