Hyundai Steel plans to make facility investments in the upgrade of the steelmaking capacity at its 70-ton electric furnace at Incheon Plant and 50-ton electric furnace at its Pohng Plant. In expectation of strong risein demand for sections used for shipbuilding and ingot for forging in accordance with a continuing boom of shipbuilding industry and the fast expansion of wind power generation business, Hyundai Steel said that it will increase the production capacity of its related facilities. With a scheme to flexibly adjust its production to meet the growing demand for those steel products, Hyundai Steel intends to make a contribution to the upgrade of the international competitiveness of local shipbuilding industry, which is one of the nation's major industries, and to play an import role in sharpening the competitive edge of windpower generation business that is receiving spotlight as the new growth engine of the country.
