Bortezomib-induced peripheral neuropathy: facts and genes.

The paper by Broyl and colleagues1 in the November, 2010, issue of The Lancet Oncology reports an extensive assessment of the gene-expression profile of patients with myeloma who are receiving bortezomib or vincristine treatment. The authors claim that specific genetic profiles might be associated with the risk of developing chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy as well as with its course and severity.
