Egg coat is the first place that sperm contact with an egg. In many species, some interactions between sperm and egg occur in egg coat that result in the activation of sperm motility, the sperm binding specific for the species and the induction of the acrosome reaction. Each of them is essential process-for the achievement of fertilization.
