Specialty elastomers project progresses in Saudi Arabia

ExxonMobil Chemical and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) have begun construc?tion of a specialty elastomers (synthetic rubbers) manufac?turing facility in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, on the Arabian Gulf. The new plant will be the Kingdom's first such facility and will be inte?grated with the existing Al-Jubail Petrochemical Company com?plex, a 50-50 joint venture of ExxonMobil and SABIC. "This project will be the basis for creating a world-class rubber value chain in Saudi Arabia," says ExxonMobil Chemical Company President Steve Pryor. "It will be a valuable extension of the range of products and services we provide to customers, not only here in the Kingdom, but also elsewhere in the Middle East and in Asia, Europe and Africa."
