摘要

The present paper describes successful attempts for the development of technology for mass multiplication of two different interspecific hybrids viz. FRI-5 and FRI-14 which has already been perfected through tissue culture. The growth performance of 'Eucalyptus hybrids FRI-5 and FRI-14 tested in different agro-climatic locations of Uttarakhand are also described. Parameters like height, collar diameter (DBH), clear bole length and self pruning capability of both the hybrid were recorded to identify the suitability of these hybrids in different varied climatic zones of Uttarakhand and also for their commercial plantations. These micropropagated hybrids were planted at different agro-climatic sites of Uttarakhand during monsoon year of 2005. So far the data collected upto three years had showed overall superiority and suitability of these hybrids even under varied agro-climatic conditions. Thus, development of tissue culture technology is very useful to produced true to type planting material as nowhas been proved in both the Eucalyptus hybrids. Tissue culture technology coppled with nursery practices is the solution for increasing the yield by using both the Eucalyptus hybrids.
