Tadalafil and purpura.

Cutaneous and mucocutaneous eruptions are the most common drug adverse reactions [1,2]. Phos-phodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors are commonly used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and since 2006, tadalafil has been in the European market.We describe a 65-year-old male who was attended for a 2-day history of non-pruritic palpable purpuric rash of the lower extremities (Figure 1) without fever, arthralgias, or malaise. Questioning revealed the intake of 20 mg of tadalafil (Cialis) 2 days prior, as prescribed by his urologist, because of erectile dysfunction. This was the first time that the patient had taken tadalafil or any other PDE5 inhibitor.
