Since the early 1960s, numerous individuals and organizations have suggested ideas for the future direction of research in school health education. Willgoose1 in 1963 suggested 22 specific areas for future research in school health education. He suggested that research in these areas could promote the "worth" of school health education to administrators and school boards. In 1965, the ASHA Research Council2 identified 5 subsections of "health science instruction" research needs. The 5 subsections were curriculum development, methods and techniques, materials and resources, evaluation of teaching, and organization of instruction.
