CONCLUSIONS

This study demonstrates the significance of preoperative serum tumor markers in the prognosis of patients with clinically organ confined invasive bladder cancer. Abnormal levels of CA 19-9 and CA 125 before cystectomy are apparently associated with poor outcome CA 19-9 appears to be an independent predictor of disease specific mortality.. These results need to be confirmed in larger multicenter studies.
