摘要

The hitherto unexplored class of acylated fullerenecompounds has been shown to be excellent C_(60)H_2pre-cursors. Upon a simple treatment with basic Al_2O_3, theyare hydrolyzed quantitatively into C_(60)H_2.This keyfeature led to the development of a new, straightforwardprotocol for the selective synthesis of the simplest [60]fullerene hydride, C_(60)H_2.This protocol may offer anadvantageous alternative to previously known methodsfor the synthesis of C_(60)H_2allowing for a rapid access toC_(60)H_2in good yield and high purity without tediousseparating processes.
