P-coumaricacid(pCA)hasbeenintercalatedinzincbasicsalt(ZBS)todesignanorganic–inorganic nanohybridmaterialwithcontrolledreleaseandsustainedantioxidantactivity.Accordingtothe powderX-raydiffractionpatternsandFT-IRspectra,pCAmoleculeswereintercalatedintoZBSwithout any noticeablealterationsintheirstructuralintegrity.Invitroreleasetestshowedabiphasicdischarge of pCAoutoftheinterlayerspaceoftwo-dimensionalZBSlatticeconsistingofaninitialburstrelease followedbyaslowandsustainedrelease.ThepCA–ZBSnanohybridexhibitedcomparableantioxidant activitytothatofthefreepCA.
