Steiner et al from Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago, describe a 9-year-old boy with myeloradiculitis and encephalopathy, with compelling evidence of cat-scratch disease (ie, typical submandibular lymphadenitis, erythema nodosum, and strongly positive skin reaction to "home-brewed" cat-scratch antigen). The previously reported 19 cases of cat-scratch encephalopathy (CSE) were reviewed and were more typical (the majority having fever, convulsions, and coma), than the new case with myeloradiculitis.
