Dear Sir, Eccrine poromas are benign tumours which arise from the duct epithelium of the intra-epidermal portion of eccrine sweat glands. Eccrine sweat glands are spread throughout the skin although they are known to be absent in certain areas (such as the lid margin, nipple and glans penis) and concentrated in other areas especially the sole of the foot and the palm. This explains the fact that almost all cases of eccrine poromas reported in the hand have been in the palm (Buckley et al., 1993; Mamoun et al., 1972). In this communication we report on a rare case of an eccrine poroma located on the dorsal aspect of the hand. We note that the progression of benign poromas to porocarcinomas may be related to mutations of the P53 oncogene.
