摘要

Scaphoid nonunion is generally treated with open reduction and internal fixation with bone grafting, except in cases without collapse or deformity. Metal implants are normally used for internal fixation devices, but there are some disadvantages to the use of these implants, such as sensitization to metal, mutagenicity, and artifacts on computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging (Hofmann, 1995). Screws made from cortical bone (bone screws) have been used to ensure successful fixation and biological healing (Nagatani et al., 2010). We think the bone screw is a useful device to resolve the issues associated with metal implants.
