Mr. Ventimiglia last appeared in these pages as an arctic explorer and eyewitness of the Ultima Thule Frostbite First Day of Spring Total Solar Eclipse of 2015 in the October, 2015, issue of the Griffith Observer. He then collected the next total solar eclipse in Indonesia last March. A full report on that celestial enterprise already consumed the June, 2016, issue of this magazine (Please see "Eclipse Spies in the Java Sea."), but Matt Ventimiglia always finds another angle on astronomical travel and contrives a distinctive personal itinerary to link the celestial experience to iconic elements of culture and history. Here again he adds uncommon excursions to the eclipse path.
