STANDARDS AUSTRALIA has begun a new project on Human Resources management to form part of its suite of management Standards and guidelines. The new guidelines will assist individuals and organisations to manage people more effectively in the achievement of business objectives. The suite of four guidelines will take an organisation-wide approach to Human Resource management covering: Human Resources for managers Human Resources for the Board Human Resources for HR practitioners Human Resources for small business The guidelines are being prepared by Standards Australia's new Committee MB-009 Human Resources and Employment. The Committee includes representatives from organisations including the Australian Human Resources Institute, the Federal Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Australian Graduate School of Management and the ACTU. Human Resources management has long been the domain of the HR department, but it is now recognised that people management takes place at all levels of an organisation and that managers need to be resourced to address people management issues.
