An outstanding standardizer

Peter joined Standards Australia as a Projects Manager in the electrical wiring and safety area and later became Group Manager of the Electrotechnology division. In 1988 he was appointed as head of the Standards Development Division, a position he held until recently, except for a period of four years where he had responsibility for a number of major corporate activities, including the relocation of Standards Australia's headquarters. With his position being made redundant following the organisational restructure in December 2003, Peter was retained until 1 July 2004 to assist the transition to the "new" Standards Australia, initially as Acting Chief Executive and then as Executive Advisor. Peter's contribution to international standardization has been significant, particularly in ISO and IEC at all levels including six years as a member of the IEC Committee of Action (now the Standards Management Board) and six years as a member of the ISO Technical Management Board. During this time he initiated a number of innovations including the introduction of a new method for evaluating new projects in ISO.
