摘要

To the Editor:Fish is a common food allergen and can cause fatal anaphylactic reactions.1 Although some patients with fish allergy have shown isolated allergy to a single species of fish only,2,3 subjects with fish allergy are usually allergic to multiple fish species.4 As the reason for cross-reactivity to a large number of fish species, the major allergen in fish is parvalbumin, which is a protein present in muscle tissue from a variety of fish species.5 Fish allergens other than parvalbumin, such as the 25-kd allergen in swordfish,2 have been reported; however, there have not been any articles indicating that these proteins are involved in cross-reactivity between fish species.
