Levamisole, an isomer of tetramisole, has been used over a period of 20 years as an immunomodulator and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, tumours, and several viral infectious diseases in human and animals (Brunner and Muskoplat, 1980; Gokce et al., 1997; Murchay and Quinn, 1986; Alkan et al., 1995). The drug increases and regulates the cellular immune responses. Levamisole also increases the chemotaxis of polymorphonuclear leucocytes in human and animals (Murchay and Quinn, loc. cit.; Flesh et al., 1982; Irwin et al., 1976).
