Serotyping of escherichia coli isolated from natural cases of colibacillosis in chicken in and around namakkal

Poultry farming in India has transformed itself into an industry in the last two decades. The present day intensive system of poultry management has increased the birds susceptibility in various disease conditions. The most prominent among them is colibacillosis, Escherichia coli (E. coli) infection is a regular menace and majority of the poultry farms have recorded the infection throughout the year. It is universal problem which cause severe economic losses to the poultry industry at large. The present study was undertaken to assess the extent of different types of E. coli serotypes prevalent in natural cases of colibacillosis in chicken in and around Namakkal District.
