Serum levels of free thyroid hormones and cortisol in pregnant, parturient reproductive disordered, anorexic and ketotic buffaloes

The free levels of tri-iodothyronine (fT_3) and thyroxine (fT_4) and cortisol were estimated in thirty-eight lactating buffaloes belonging to the private diary farms around Jabalpur. These animals were in different physiopathological conditions leading to anorexia and ketosis. The serum free thyroid hormones (fT_3, fT_4) and cortisol were estimated by ELISA. The serum levels of cortisol were higher in the reproductive disordered buffaloes, however, the results of serum fT_3 and fT_4 were inconclusive.
