Sorghum and Millet Latest Innovative Crops

Two field crops, sorghum and millet, extensively known as forage and food crops in other parts of the world, are being put to the test in tobacco country. Dr. Orn P. Dangi is a representative of Agriculture and Environmental Renewal Canada (AERC) Inc.He, in cooperation with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Pest Management Research Centre, Delhi, with assistance from the Ontario Tobacco Diversification Program, are all working together conducting a project titled "Development of Sorghum and Millet Cultivars". During the summer of 1996, a total of 136 hybrids of sorghums and pearl millets were planted on a 1.5 acre trial site at the Delhi Station.
