摘要

This paper presents a design methodology to select the optimal number of hubs for planning a bus transit network of a large city, which involves hub and spokes approach. The optimal selection of hubs is attempted through a mathematical model and the objective is to minimise the total passenger time for the bus transit system. A three-step procedure adopted to locate the optimal number of hubs that includes clustering of bus stops through self organizing map from neural networks. The proposed methodology is applied to New Delhi.
