Urinalysis and histological changes of kidney in geriatric dogs affected with chronic kidney disease (CKD)

The paper reports urinalysis, bacterial isolation and histological changes in the kidney of 33 geriatric dogs diagnosed to suffer from chronic kidney disease.Chronic kidney disease, generally defined as primary renal failure is an important ailment, particularly in older dogs, that may interfere with quality of life and longevity [2, 7]. Healthy kidneys filter blood and remove waste products from the circulation. This paper reports complete routine and microscopic urinalysis, isolation of bacteria from urine samples of affected geriatric dogs along with in-vitro antibiotic sensitivity test and microscopic changes associated with kidney tissue of chronic kidney disorders(CKD) in geriatric dogs.
