A Critical Review on LHD-LPDT Based Mine Transport System in Indian Underground Copper Mines

The ore bearing lodes extend over 600 meter only along the short strike length and the property is divided into north and south blocks. As width of vein varies from 50 to 165 meter, transverse stopes are developed here. Method of working is mostly by large dia biasl hole sloping developed between levels, layed in transverse direction and all levels are being worked by trackless transport system with LHD and LPDT. The ore and waste both are being handled by trackless transport with the help of LHD and LPDT. The logic sequences of mining operation and material handling processes have been demonstrated in the Block diagram 1, for mine site A. The vertical longitudinal section of the operating levels in the mine is shown in Fig. 1. The strike length of the ore body is about 3.1 km long, the working, is divided into north, central and south blocks. Width of the vein is narrow and stopes are longitudinal in shape. Sublevel stoping is the only method of mining being practised here. The only trackless transport level here is 300 ML. For short haul length, ore is directly fed to main ore pass. When the haui distance of LPDT get increased auxiliary ore pass is driven. The distance between the auxiliary ore passes' is 360 meter approx. The ore is hauled by LHD/LPDT and fed into the auxiliary ore pass. At 180 ML from the auxiliary ore pass, ore is taken by GB cars hauled by battery locos and fed to main ore pass. Ore from main ore pass is sent to 'O' level crusher station and fed into skip. This skip discharges ore into surface ore bin which is conveyed by belt conveyor right up to the stock pile".
