Bending metal on a press brake is said to be one of the trickiest things fabricators do. It requires more math than most fabrication processes, and at the same time, press brake books and courses are hard to find. Consequently, most fabrication shops rely on experienced press brake operators to pass their knowledge along to new ones. On occasion myths, misinformation, and poor work habits also get passed along. Some bad work habits show up long before the bending starts. Even loading the tooling, which should be simple and straightforward, is prone to errors.
