Muhlhoff Umformtechnik GmbH worked recently on a project for Volvo Cars Body Components. The goal was to design a die for a long, narrow, stamped roof reinforcement part that showed considerable springback effects. The company realized from experience that stamped parts with spring-back are risky to produce in terms of cost and lead-time. Thus, it decided to take a cautious approach during the tool development for the part.
