A new application of steel in home construction has been introduced by Steel Panel Foundations (SPF). The foundation technology enables builders and developers to construct watertight finished basements in less time and at lower costs than conventional cement foundations. This galvanized steel foundation system-the first of its kind- employs modular construction that meets Building Officials and Code Administrators (BOCA) requirements and American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) specifications for form steel. The patented system is composed of 85 percent recyclable steel construction and has been specified in more than 100 new-home installations in the Midwest.
