The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus (5) for forming watertight panels in building foundations, special foundations, cutoff walls and similar constructions, comprising the steps of forming a cavity (3) in the soil (2) having a substantially parallelepipedal shape by means of excavating means (1); concurrently with the removal of the soil material, progressively pouring a stabilization and temporary-filling material (4) into the cavity (3); upon completing the excavation step, introducing in correspondence of at least a wall of the cavity (3) an expandable apparatus (5) delimiting the wall and removably provided with watertight coupling means (8), the apparatus (5) being brought to an expanded condition outside or inside the cavity (3); casting concrete (10) into the cavity (3) while concurrently removing the stabilization and temporary-filling material (4) therefrom, so as to form a first foundation panel (11); bringing the expandable apparatus (5) to a retracted condition and removing the apparatus (5) from the cavity (3) so as to obtain a hollow space (12) between a flank of the first panel (11) and the wall of the cavity (3).
