A significant amount of a company's market value is based on intangibles. Businesses today rely as much on the strength and versatility of their human assets as on their financial resources. Recruiting, developing, and retaining talented employees not only reduces cost, but also contributes to long-term success. There are several key steps to finding and keeping talented employees. The first phase is to locate and attract those candidates. Establishing a talent philosophy and strategy is one of the most important steps in the recruitment process. It defines what the organization is about and explains why the company pursues the people it does. Every organization, large and small, should establish a philosophy about its talent, share it with all employees and candidates, and use it as a blueprint for employee recruitment.
