Welcome to the wonderful world of welding--It's easy to understand how hard welding is

Let's be honest. I'm not a metal fabricator. Telling you anything else would make me a fabricator of the unwelcomed kind. I and the other editors on The FABRICATOR staff are writers and editors. Our job is to develop entertaining and informative features. Having said that, our technical expertise is only as good as the sources we interview and the subject matter experts we edit. That's not to say we shouldn't strive to be on the front lines. We always are looking to talk to readers and visit as many metal fabricating operations as possible to find out what challenges they face and successes they've had. That's why Assistant Editor Michael Bishop, Associate Editor Amanda Carlson, and I attended Welding for the Nonwelder at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, in Troy, Ohio, this spring. The four-day crash course allowed us to get under the hood, test out different welding processes, and join some metal. The education was definitely something to write home about.
