Introduction and summary of key clinical data

This supplement contains three major reviews undertaken by experienced independent academic and clinical family planners and gynaecologists in collaboration with scientists from Organon, part of Schering-Plough. These reviews cover virtually all aspects of the clinical pharmacology and clinical performance of the subdermal progestogen contraceptive, Implanon~R (Organon, part of Schering-Plough) . These reviews are based on a comprehensive reanalysis of the phase II, III, and IV data from clinical trials carried out in Europe, the United States, Chile, and Asia. Over 940 women were recruited to these trials, the majority being studied for up to two years, and a minority for three years or more. Continuation rates in these trials were high.
