Is sleeping in lectures a professionalism issue?

I beg to differ. In my opinion, the reply of the medical student was probably correct. I know from personal experience that if I fall asleep in a lecture, it is not by choice, and can even happen when I find the content interesting. This problem is shared by many contributors to internet forums: the vast majority describe falling asleep despite themselves and share tips on how they try to stay awake that range from coffee to chewing gum to stabbing themselves in the leg with a pin.
